Who we are? - THE TEAM

Javier Ojeda

P.Eng. PMP, CEM, REP – Owner, Founder, Principal Engineer

  • 20 years of experience in the renewable and energy efficiency industry
  • International certifications in Project Management (PMP), Energy Efficiency (CEM), and Renewable Energy (REP)
  • Extensive experience in Hydroelectric Power Plants, including management of operations of recently megaproject hydro plant in Labrador.
  • Held several positions in different organizations in the industry, including plant manager for the newest big hydroelectric plant in the maritimes.
  • Vast experience managing interdisciplinary projects, from energy audits to complete overhauls of hydroelectric plants and their systems.
  • Hold the following certifications: PMP (Project Management Professional), CEM (Certified Energy Manager) and REP (Renewable Energy Professional).

Mike Detenbeck

MS.c, P.Eng – Senior Mechanical and Metallurgical Engineer

  • Mechanical and Metallurgical Engineering Expertise: With a Master’s degree in Metallurgy and Materials Science and a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering, Mike specializes in the design, repair, and inspection of industrial equipment, including hydroelectric turbines, pressure vessels, and power plant systems. He has extensive experience in welding engineering, quality assurance, and materials science, holding certifications as a Professional Engineer in Ontario and Nova Scotia, and as an International Welding Engineer.

  • Extensive Hydroelectric and Power Industry Contributions: Mike has played critical roles in numerous hydroelectric projects across Canada and the U.S., including turbine overhauls, bearing system redesigns, and efficiency improvements. He has also contributed to large-scale power generation projects, such as combined cycle plants and wind turbine developments. His expertise includes resolving complex technical challenges involving materials, controls, and mechanical systems to ensure long-term performance and reliability.

  • Leadership and Problem-Solving in Engineering Projects: Over his career, Mike has managed multidisciplinary teams of engineers and skilled trades, supervising large-scale manufacturing, construction, and repair projects. He has a proven track record in delivering quality results under budget and on schedule. Known for his innovative problem-solving, he has authored technical publications on engineering solutions, reflecting his commitment to advancing industry knowledge and practice.

Zenahir Alvarado

Technical Translation Consultant

  • Electrical and Electronic Engineering Expertise: With a degree in Electronic Engineering and over 10 years of professional experience, Zenahir has specialized in maintenance planning, preventive and corrective maintenance, and quality management. She has supported industrial operations in sectors such as manufacturing and energy, contributing to ISO 9001 documentation and ensuring the efficient operation of production lines. Her early work included PLC programming and HMI interface design for advanced control systems.

  • Energy Management and Project Support: As a Junior Energy Analyst at Hysovent, Zenahir has contributed to energy audits across multiple facilities, organizing and analyzing energy consumption data, and preparing ASHRAE Level 1 and Level 2 reports. Her role includes meticulous data verification and supporting project management. She has completed energy audits for government buildings in Nova Scotia, strengthening her expertise in energy efficiency and resource optimization.

  • Technical Translations and Multidisciplinary Skills: Zenahir is an accomplished technical translator with experience translating complex engineering documents from English to Spanish, ensuring precise terminology and contextual integrity. Her background in teaching, creative writing, and radio broadcasting highlights her diverse skill set in communication and content creation. These strengths, coupled with her studies in Operations and Maintenance Management, make her a versatile professional capable of supporting technical and organizational needs.

Juan Marin

Senior Mechanical Engineer and FEA / CFD Specialist

  • Mechanical Engineering and Advanced Simulation Expertise: With a Master’s in Mechanical Engineering and over 15 years of experience, Juan specializes in mechanical design, problem analysis for industrial equipment, and maintenance. He is an expert in Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), using advanced tools like ANSYS to optimize performance, evaluate designs, and investigate failures. His skills include 3D scanning, CAD modeling, and detailed engineering reviews for hydroelectric power plants and other industrial systems.

  • Extensive Experience in Vibration Analysis and Equipment Diagnostics: As a leader in vibration analysis and structural failure investigations, Juan has resolved complex issues in hydroelectric turbines, high-voltage transmission equipment, and industrial machinery. He has conducted detailed evaluations of friction, cavitation wear, and seismic resistance for critical infrastructure. His innovative approach includes reverse engineering, 3D modeling, and simulation to enhance system reliability and performance.

  • Project Leadership and Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Juan has managed teams in mechanical design, quality control, and inspection, participating in projects ranging from hydroelectric power plant rehabilitation to industrial equipment disassembly and assembly. His work spans international collaborations, including seismic testing in China and wear evaluations in Venezuela. Known for his technical expertise and collaborative mindset, he has contributed to major publications on CFD modeling and fluid dynamics.

Elton Zambrano

Advisor – Automation, Manufacturing

  • Experienced Mechanical Engineer with over 16 years in the industrial sector and 9 years of experience in the educational area.
  • Project management experience in automation for the manufacturing industry, including TIG and MIG robots and co-bots, plastic thermoforming, and equipment assembly.
  • Consulting engineering experience, HVAC projects.
  • Construction logistics supervision, major railroad project.
  • Maintenance supervision, thermal generation units.
  • Fluent Italian, English and Spanish. Experience in technical translations Italian – English and English – Italian.

Pedro Gutierrez

CAD Lead Engineer - Reverse Engineering Consultant

  • Expertise in CAD and Mechanical Engineering Design: With over 25 years of experience, Pedro is a seasoned professional in CAD operations and mechanical design. Proficient in software such as AutoCAD, Inventor, SolidWorks, and Revit, he specializes in standardized drawings, reverse engineering, rendered presentations, and architectural designs. His work has supported major industrial clients, including Caterpillar and Procter & Gamble, in delivering high-precision design solutions.

  • Leadership in Teaching and CAD Training: Recognized as the Autodesk Instructor of the Year for Northern Latin America in 2008, Pedro has an extensive background in teaching CAD tools and methodologies. As a manager and instructor at MICROCOM C.A., he trained numerous professionals and contributed to developing a computer-assisted design and engineering research laboratory at U.N.E.X.P.O., fostering technical excellence in the mechanical engineering field.

  • Project and Design Leadership: Pedro has a history of successfully managing technical drawing and design projects for industries ranging from heavy manufacturing to academia. His contributions include drafting optimization for sugar manufacturing facilities, AutoCAD manual translations, and supporting facility design enhancements, showcasing his ability to deliver impactful results across diverse engineering challenges.
